Mass Server

Parishioners of all ages (10 years old and up) are encouraged to assist the priests at the altar during Mass.

Mass Lectors

Parish members who read the Sacred Scriptures during Mass and make announcements.

Mass Ushers/Greeters

These men and women help seat people at Mass, take up the collection, and secure it after Mass. They see that the bulletins are handed out and they open doors as needed.


This is an opportunity to join others in leading sung music during Mass or playing an instrument at Mass and other liturgies.

Eucharistic Ministers

These parishioners help with the distribution of the Body and Precious Blood of Christ at communion time during Mass; they also take communion to the homebound parishioners.

Eucharistic Adorers at St. Catherine

They provide for constant prayer before the Blessed Sacrament at the Chapel in St. Catherine's Hospital or on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 -6 pm at St. Mary Church.


A parishioner who helps with the care of the sacristy and things of the altar (sacred vessels, liturgical books, etc) in preparation for the celebration of Mass. They also clean and put away everything that was used during Mass once it is finished.

Offertory counter of weekend offerings

This is an opportunity to help count and record the gifts given at the weekend Masses. This is carried out on a weekday.

Church Cleaning

Parish members have taken on the responsibility for cleaning the church. There are opportunities to join a group for maintaining God's House.

Church Decoration

Volunteers are needed to decorate the Church periodically.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Chapel Attendant

This is the maintenance and care of the chapel of Our Lady of Guadalupe at St. Mary Church. It involves keeping the chapel clean and the flowers presentable at all times.

Volunteer for Our Lady of Guadalupe Celebration

These people provide assistance in the cafeteria during the time of the celebration in December.

Grounds and Maintenance

Any parishioner who is willing to help cut grass, shovel snow, paint, clean up, assist in maintenance of parish buildings and grounds in any way is welcomed.

Funeral Dinners

Volunteers help by providing lunch for family members after a funeral service. Help is needed in providing salads, desserts and helping serve at the funeral dinner.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

These volunteers help by donating yarn or by the actual making of shawls that are distributed to anyone that is ill with serious disease, especially cancer.

Religious Education Teacher

Volunteers are needed to teach or help with religion classes that are held on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.

RCIA Helper

Volunteers are needed to help with catechesis, being a sponsor or hospitality for those who are seeking to become Catholic. This is an opportunity to help bring others into the faith by witnessing your own faith. The classes are held on Tuesday evenings and during the 11:00 a.m. Sunday Mass.

Pastoral Council

This is a group of elected parishioners who advise the Pastor and assist in pastoral planning.

Finance Council

Canon Law requires each Parish to have a Finance Council to preserve the property and assets of the Faith and to provide a reasonable budget. The Pastor appoints members to this council.

This group helps to organize the different ministries involved in the Liturgy. They assist the Pastor in liturgical planning of public worship.
